On November 15, 2022, the United Nations announced that the global human population had reached 8 billion. Of this population, approximately 2.6 billion people identify as Christians, either by belief, identity, or affiliation, which accounts for about 32.3% of the global population. However, it is evident that 68.7% of the global population remains unreached with the Gospel of Christ. To compound this challenge, the number of Christians as a percentage of the world population declined from 34.5% to 32.3% from 1900-2000 and has continued to decline in the old strongholds of Christianity around the world. Yet, the global population has continued to increase.

As we approach the second millennium since the launch of the Great Commission and the birth of the church, it is imperative to reflect on how well we have fared in terms of fulfilling the Great Commission in the last century and what we must do to win more souls for Christ in this new landscape.
